Fisk, Huston-Tillotson garner Week 5 HBCUAC Weekly Honors
NEW ORLEANS - September 15, 2025 - Fisk University's Shelby Chamblin captured Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Attacker and Newcomer of the Week. Nialah Gupton continues her reign as Defender of the Week. Kaia Barnett takes home Setter of the Week. Huston-Tillotson University's Lindsey Morris earns Freshman of the Week. The women were honored for their performances between September 8-14, the conference announced on Monday.
Chamblin had two double-digit kill performances and recorded 37 for the week, helping Fisk win three out of four matches. She recorded 10 against Brescia University and 14 against National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I program Mississippi Valley State University. Chamblin added 20 digs and four blocks as she picked up her fifth and sixth weekly honors.
Gupton earns her fourth weekly honor. She tallied three double-digit dig performances including 16 against Mississippi Valley State. Gupton successfully received 73 of 74 balls for a .986 receiving percentage. She leads the HBCUAC with 233 digs and ranks third with 4.31 per set.
Barnett garners her second weekly honor. She engineered Fisk's attack with 81 assists, recording 20 or more in three matches, including 25 against Brescia University and 23 against Lindsey Wilson University. She missed a double-double against Oakwood by one dig. Barnett also contributed 31 digs, five kills and a service ace.
Morris recorded two double-digit kill performances. She recorded 10 in a three-set win over Tougaloo College in an HBCUAC match on Saturday and 11 in a four-set win over Jarvis Christian University. She added four blocks and four digs.

About the HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The HBCUAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Huston-Tillotson University (TX), Oakwood University (AL), Paul Quinn College (TX), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Stillman College (AL), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), Voorhees University (SC), Wilberforce University (OH), and Wiley University (TX).
