Fisk quartet sweeps Week 2 HBCUAC Volleyball Honors
NEW ORLEANS - August 26, 2025 - Fisk University outside hitter Shelby Chamblin claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Week 2 Attacker and Newcomer of the Week. Nialah Gupton took home Defender of the Week. Kaia Barnett garnered Setter of the Week. Paige Browning earned Freshman of the Week. The ladies were honored for their performance between August 18-24, the conference announced Tuesday.
Chamblin recorded 40 kills in four matches at the Onset Invitational, which included a match against ranked No. 15 Aquinas College. She recorded a double-double in her debut against University of Northwestern Ohio with 10 kills and 12 digs. For the week she had 31 digs and passed 94 times at a rate of 2.08.
Gupton tallied three double-digit dig performances, including 21 against Bethel University (Ind.). She received 102 serves and posted a .882 receiving percentage. Gupton contributed offensively with three service aces.
Barnett recorded 81 assists, averaging 6.23 per set. In three of the four matches, she recorded over 20, including a high of 26 against Northwestern Ohio. Barnett also contributed 23 digs and four service aces.
Browning provided a consistent performance. She recorded nine kills and five block assists to lead Fisk past Bethel University. For the week, she finished with 14 kills and seven block assists.
