Talladega, Wiley, Dillard garner opening HBCUAC Women's Track & Field Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - Talladega College sprinter Lamoy Duffus wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Track Athlete of the Week. Wiley University jumper Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo takes Field Athlete of the Week. Aaliyah Evans claims Newcomer of the Week. Dillard University sprinter Mackenzie Cannon earns Freshman of the week. The athletes were recognized for their performance between March 9-15, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Duffus qualified for the 2026 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women's Outdoor Track and Field National Championship in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.47, which surpassed the 'B' qualifying standard. She beat 43 athletes at the Montevallo Falcon Multi Event Classic. Her time leads the NAIA.
Tutt-Moutouo finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.37 meters at the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Opener. She was 0.41 meters from the 'B' qualifying standard.
Cannon helped Dillard finish first in the 4 x 100-meter relay with a NAIA-leading time of 47.06. She also finished third in the 100-meter dash at the Andy Thiel Season Opener.
Evans finished runner-up in the 800-meter run at the Texas A&M-Texarkana Opener.
