Dillard's Byrd, Wiley's Tutt-Moutouo claim Week 3 HBCUAC Women's Track and Field Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - March 25, 2025 - Dillard University athlete Kevell Byrd garners Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Wiley University's Meeyesha Tutt-Moutouo takes home Field Athlete of the Week for the third consecutive week. The ladies were honored for their performances between March 17-23, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Byrd posted National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship qualifying times in three events at the Louisiana Classic on Saturday. She surpassed the 'B' qualifying standard in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.84 seconds, finishing sixth out of 26 athletes. She ran 24.47 in the 200-meter dash, which exceeded the 'B' qualifying standard. She ran a leg on the 4 x 100-meter relay, which posted a national championship qualifying time of 46.08, which was well over the 'A' qualifying standard. All three times rank in the top five of the NAIA.
Tutt-Moutouo was once again within striking distance of qualifying for the NAIA National Championship. She had her furthest jump in the triple jump at 11.17 meters and only finished behind two athletes from Prairie View A&M. She was within 0.54 meters of the 'B' qualifying standard. Her leap of 5.23 meters in the long jump was 0.52 meters of the 'B' qualifying standard.
