Top seeds Talladega, Huston-Tillotson advance to championship
SHREVEPORT, La. - November 6, 2025 - East No. 1 seed Talladega College and West No. 1 seed Huston-Tillotson University women held their ranks as they advanced to the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Soccer Championship match with semifinal victories.
The programs will face off at 3 p.m. Friday with the winner earning an automatic berth to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round.
It will be the first time the programs have faced each other. Both teams were well represented on the 2025 All-HBCUAC Team. Reba Stott, Gabrielle Bryan, and Annalisa Vincent earned selections for the Tornadoes. Kayla Evans, Lincy Villatoro, Citlaly Vences, and Alicia Gonzales earned spots for the Rams. Vences earned Goalkeeper of the Year and head coach Oriol Gimeno-Hernandez was named Coach of the Year.
Talladega is led offensively by Annalisa Vincent, who leads the NAIA with 33 goals and 77 points. Two of those goals came in the semifinals against Wiley University. Shamya Daniels and Cycoiah Wattley also have double-digit goals with 17 and 10 respectively. Goalkeeper Alyssa Johnson ranks fourth in the HBCUAC with 41 saves.
Evans leads the Rams offensive attack with nine goals. Two were in the semifinals, including the match-winning goal in the 54th minute. Villatoro ranks fifth in the conference with seven assists. Jerusalem Rodriguez-Gamez has five goals. Ten players have scored 29 goals. Vences and Juliette Morales-Martinez have split time in the net. They are the top two goalkeepers in the conference in save percentage with Vences at .766 and Morales-Martinez at .743.
