Talladega College, Huston-Tillotson women clinch No. 1 seeds for 2025 HBCUAC Soccer Championship
NEW ORLEANS - November 2, 2025 - The women's soccer matchups are set for the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Soccer Championship hosted by the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission which kicks off at noon on Tuesday and concludes on Friday at Lee Hedges Stadium in Shreveport. Talladega College team claimed the No. 1 seed in the East and Huston-Tillotson University claimed the top seed in the West.
The Tornadoes (7-4-0, 4-0-0, HBCUAC) went 4-0 in conference play and outscored their opponents 53-0 in three matches. One of their matches was one by forfeit. Annalisa Vincent leads the conference in scoring with 31 goals, 11 assists and 73 points. Cycoiah Wattley follows with 10 goals and six assists. Alyssa Johnson has made 36 saves in 10 matches. Talladega earned a bye into the semifinals and will face the winner of Tuesday's noon match between West No. 2 Wiley University and East No. 3 Tougaloo College at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
The Lady Wildcats (8-5-0, 2-2-0 HBCUAC) have their highest win total since 2017 when they reached the Red River Athletic Conference semifinals. Nadia Hernandez leads a balanced scoring attack with eight goals and seven assists. Deyanara Hernandez follows with seven goals and five assists. Wiley has six players with five or more goals. Leah Ramirez (3-2-0) has made 15 saves in six appearances with one shutout.
Tougaloo (0-8-1, 0-3-1 HBCUAC) only has eleven players. Jeniah Lewis scored the Lady Bulldogs only goal. Bethany Walker leads the team with six shots and four on goal. The goalkeepers have seen plenty of action. Precious Womack has seen the most time in the net with six starts. She has stopped 31 shots.
The Rams (6-6-1, 3-1-0 HBCUAC) emerged from a competitive West Division. They split against Wiley and won two one-goal matches against Paul Quinn College. Kayla Evans leads Huston-Tillotson with seven goals. Lincy Villatoro ranks fifth in the conference with six assists. Jerusalem Rodriguez-Gamez has five goals and two assists. Citlaly Vences and Juliet Morales-Martinez have split time at goalkeeper. Morales-Martinez leads the conference with a 1.40 goals against average and a .781 save percentage. Vences ranks second in the conference with a .766 save percentage and fourth with a 2.22 goals-against average. Huston-Tillotson earned a bye to the semifinals and will face the winner of Tuesday's 6 p.m. match between East No. 2 Oakwood University and West No. 3 Paul Quinn College at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Ambassadors (1-5-1, 1-2-1 HBCUAC) won when it mattered, beating Tougaloo College on October 19. Reynna Mayers leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist. Renee Wisdom has seen most of the action at goalkeeper with four starts. She has stopped 28 shots.
The Lady Tigers (6-7-1, 1-3-0 HBCUAC) picked up their only conference win against Wiley on October 23. Cora Hurst leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and two assists. She ranks third in the conference in goals and fifth with 22 points. Mia Hawkins has provided four goals and seven assists. Fernanda Rosas leads the HBCUAC with 47 saves. She ranks second with a 1.83 goals against average and fourth with a .691 save percentage.
