Wiley takes home Week 6 HBCUAC Women's Soccer Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - October 6, 2025 - Wiley University junior forward Deyanara Hernandez garners Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Offensive Player of the Week. Mariana Quijano wins Defensive Player of the Week. Feryi Sanchez earns Freshman of the Week. The women were recognized for their performance between September 29-October 5, the conference announced on Monday.
Hernandez set up Alexse Orozco's game-winning goal in the 55th minute and scored her fourth goal on a penalty kick in the 76th minute of Wiley's 3-1 victory over Paul Quinn College. Hernandez is tied for second in the conference with 23 shots, tied for third with four goals and ranks fifth with 10 points.
Quijano picks up her second honor after earning her fourth victory. After allowing a goal in the 27th minute, she held Paul Quinn scoreless for the rest of the game and made one save. She leads the conference with 42 saves and ranks second with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .724 save percentage.
Sanchez tied the game with her fourth goal of the season on a free kick that went into the top right corner of the net, seconds after Paul Quinn scored the opening goal. She is tied for third in the HBCUAC with four goals. This is her third weekly honor.

About the HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
