SUNO wins first postseason game since 2016, Stillman advances to quarterfinals
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The first day of the 2026 Hope Credit Union Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Basketball Championship ended with Southern University of New Orleans and Huston-Tillotson University advancing to the second round and Stillman College moving on to the quarterfinals Tuesday at Stillman College's Birthright Alumni Hall.

Southern University of New Orleans hit eight 3-pointers and pulled away in the second quarter to win their first postseason game since the program restarted in 2022 and first overall since 2016.

Markiyah Jefferson hit four 3-pointers in the final 2:24 of the second quarter which turned a two-point lead into a 14-point halftime lead.

Voorhees led nearly the entire first half and led by as many as seven with 1:30 remaining on a layup by Kaelin Davis. Huston-Tillotson cut the deficit to four at halftime.
