Oakwood, Tougaloo pair win Week 13 HBCUAC Women's Basketball Honors
NEW ORLEANS - Oakwood University forward Trenisha Adams captures Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Offensive Player of the Week. Tougaloo College's forward Brayland Ferguson garners Defensive Player of the Week. Shalayne Morgan takes Newcomer of the Week. The women were honored for their performance between January 19-25, the conference announced on Monday.
Adams posted 24.5 points and 3.5 assists per game, helping the Lady Ambassadors to a victory over Wilberforce University on Thursday. She put up 18 points on an 8-for-13 shooting performance against Stillman College on Thursday. On Thursday, Adams tallied 31 points and five assists. She added two offensive rebounds and finished the week with seven assists.
Ferguson recorded 29 rebounds, eight steals and one block in two games, leading the Lady Bulldogs to a victory. She had 12 rebounds with six on defense and three steals in Thursday's game at Dillard. On Saturday, she grabbed 17 rebounds with 13 on defense and stole the ball five times, to lead Tougaloo to a 77-67 victory over Southern University at New Orleans. This is Ferguson's second honor.
Morgan averaged 20.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and three steals per game in two contests last week. She scored 21 points and two rebounds in Thursday's game at Dillard. On Saturday, she put up 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals in a victory over Southern University at New Orleans.

About the HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The HBCUAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Huston-Tillotson University (TX), Oakwood University (AL), Paul Quinn College (TX), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Stillman College (AL), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), Voorhees University (SC), Wilberforce University (OH), and Wiley University (TX).
