SUNO's Wilson, HTU's Burleson Repeat Honors as Conference Announces Women's Basketball Players of the Week
NEW ORLEANS – The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) has announced its Women's Basketball Players of the Week, recognizing outstanding performances on both ends of the court for the week of November 3-9, 2025. Huston-Tillotson University's Wilashia Burleson earned both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Stillman College's Jordan Harris was named Newcomer of the Week, and Southern University at New Orleans' Katelynn Wilson captured Freshman of the Week.
Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week: Wilashia Burleson, Huston-Tillotson University
Burleson was dominant on both ends of the floor, averaging 20.0 points and 17.5 rebounds per game during the Rams' two wins at the Tiffany Jackson HBCU Women's Hoops Classic. The senior forward logged back-to-back 40-minute performances, anchoring Huston-Tillotson's offense and defense. She pulled in 40 total rebounds for the week—13.3 per game on the defensive glass—while adding 2.3 steals and 3.3 blocks per game. Burleson recorded four steals in HT's come-from-behind victory over Stillman and seven blocks in the Rams' win against Jarvis Christian.
Newcomer of the Week: Jordan Harris, Stillman College
Harris made a strong impact for the Tigers, helping Stillman improve to 3-2 overall. Over three games, she averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds. She went a perfect 100% from the field against Mobile and posted a double-double versus the University of the Virgin Islands with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Harris shot an impressive 64% from the field throughout the week.
Freshman of the Week: Katelynn Wilson, Southern University at New Orleans
Wilson continues to shine in her debut season, leading SUNO to a 4-1 record. The explosive guard poured in 43 points across two games this week, including a standout performance with six steals against Louisiana Christian. Wilson shot 44% from the field and a blistering 57% from three-point range, while also adding six rebounds, six assists, and one block.
