Keys Repeats for Oakwood, Fisk and Tougaloo Players Snag Weekly Women’s Basketball Honors
NEW ORLEANS - November 25, 2024 - Voorhees University's Ty'Shemia Bunkley claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. A'Niya Young of Fisk grabs Defensive Player of the Week. Oakwood University's Saniya Keys wins Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week, and Tougaloo College's Makaila Brown takes home Newcomer of the Week. The athletes were recognized for their performances between November 18 and 24, the conference announced on Monday.
Keys picked up her sixth weekly honor. She averaged 20 points and 8.5 rebounds over the course of two games. Keys leads the HBCUAC in overall rebounds and points per game with 11.3 and 19.7, respectively.
Brown is making a name for herself for the Tougaloo Lady Bulldogs and in the HBCUAC. Brown led the Lady Bulldogs' defense, grabbing 42 total rebounds, including a career-best 17 boards in the victory over Wiley. She scored 35 total points, including a career-high 11-point performance in the Lady Bulldogs' victory over Philander Smith, accompanied by eight steals, five assists and five blocks.
Young was a warrior for the Lady Bulldogs, grabbing 29 rebounds in two games. Against Freed-Hardeman, she had 12 boards and four steals. Her 17-rebound performance against defending conference champ Rust helped Fisk get their second conference win of the season.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The HBCUAC membership includes Dillard University (LA), Fisk University (TN), Oakwood University (AL), Philander Smith University (AR), Rust College (MS), Southern University at New Orleans (LA), Stillman College (AL), Talladega College (AL), Tougaloo College (MS), University of the Virgin Islands (St. Thomas), Voorhees University (SC), Wilberforce University (OH), and Wiley University (TX).
