Huston-Tillotson's Alaniz captures opening HBCUAC Softball Weekly Honors
NEW ORLEANS - Huston-Tillotson University catcher and infielder Alayali Alaniz wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Softball Player of the Week. She was honored for her performance between January 26-February 1, the conference announced Tuesday.
In her first action of the season, Alaniz recorded three hits, including a two-run home run in Friday's game against McMurry University. For the week she hit .333. Last season, she hit .411 with 19 runs and 17 RBI. Ten of her 39 hits went for extra bases.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
