Wiley captures 2025 HBCUAC Men's Cross Country Championship, Voorhees' Bor wins Individual Title
DANVILLE, Ala. - October 17, 2025 - After finishing runner-up three consecutive seasons, the Wiley University men's cross country team took a step up on the podium as it had four runners finish in the top 15 to win the 2025 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Championship Friday at Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center.
Javoun Goldsby, who won last season's individual title led the Wildcats with a runner-up finish. He ran a personal best. Freshman Earl Hurd Jr. earned All-HBCUAC with a ninth place finish (30:00.34). Ameariun Harper (31:07.64), Jaylon Donson (31:22.01) and freshman Dwight Bennett Jr. (31:57.54) rounded out Wiley's team score of 55 points. The title is the first for the Wildcats since they joined the conference in 2022 and second overall conference title. They won the 2014 Red River Athletic Conference championship.
Wiley University head coach Christopher McConnell won 2025 HBCUAC Coach of the Year. Tougaloo College's Paul Scott won 2025 HBCUAC Assistant Coach of the Year.
Voorhees University's Bravin Bor took the individual title with a time of 28:06.03. His teammates Camron Gillard and Kevin Koech finished in third and fourth, respectively. All three athletes will qualify for the 2025 NAIA National Championship on November 21 at Apalachee National Park in Tallahassee, Florida, with the champion Wildcats and Wilberforce University's Skyaqui Howard.
