Tougaloo's Owusu, Wiley duo take Week 5 HBCUAC Men's Soccer Weekly Awards
NEW ORLEANS - September 29, 2025 - Tougaloo College midfielder Helix Owusu wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Wiley University goalkeeper Daniel Rojas garners Defensive Player of the Week. Alvaro Guerrero earns Freshman of the Week. The men were recognized for their performances between September 22-28, the conference announced on Monday.
Owusu recorded a hat trick to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-1 victory over Oakwood University on Sunday in their HBCUAC opener. He put up seven shots with three on goal.
Rojas earned his second weekly honor with his first career shutout. He stopped three shots, including two in the first half that kept the game scoreless, allowing the Wildcats to take the lead in a 4-0 victory over Arlington Baptist University on Friday.
Guerrero provided his second assist of the season which set up Wiley's fourth goal in the 74th minute. He has played in all seven matches and ranks fourth in the conference in assists.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
