Philander Smith, SUNO Earn Week 3 Honors
NEW ORLEANS — The HBCU Athletic Conference has announced its Men's Basketball Players of the Week, highlighting standout performances from Philander Smith University and Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) for the week of November 3-9, 2025.
Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week: Raymond Reece, Philander Smith University
Philander Smith University's Raymond Reece swept the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors after delivering dominant performances on both ends of the floor. Over two games, Reece tallied 61 points, 32 rebounds, and 3 steals while shooting an impressive 67 percent from the field. In the Panthers' 83-75 win over Talladega College, Reece was nearly unstoppable, pouring in 38 points on 16-of-22 shooting. His impact was felt defensively, where he collected 20 defensive rebounds and 12 offensive boards over the two-game stretch, controlling the paint and setting the tone for PSU's strong week.
Newcomer of the Week: Dorian Booker, Southern University at New Orleans
SUNO's Dorian Booker earned Newcomer of the Week honors following a strong showing against William Carey. The center posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, connecting on 9-of-12 shots from the field. Booker's efficient scoring and aggressive rebounding provided a major boost for the Knights to remain competitive against a tough Crusaders squad.
Freshman of the Week: Aumad Hackett, Southern University at New Orleans
SUNO guard Aumad Hackett was named Freshman of the Week. He ran the point for the Knights against a tough William Carey team. Hackett contributed 8 points, 3 assists, and a steal, while going 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.
