SUNO, Wiley, Fisk, Oakwood take Week 2 HBCUAC Men's Basketball Honors
NEW ORLEANS - November 4, 2025 - Southern University at New Orleans Jamal Gibson claims Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Wiley University's center Cortez Collins garners Defensive Player of the Week. Fisk University's Kaleb Jeffries wins Freshman of the Week. Oakwood University's Jordan Hill earns Newcomer the Week. The men were honored for their performance between October 27-November 2, the conference announced Tuesday.
Playing against three of the top teams in the NAIA, Gibson scored 49 points and shot 43 percent from the field. He also contributed 12 rebounds and four assists. Gibson ranks third in the nation with 16 offensive rebounds and 14th with 17 points.
Collins grabbed 17 rebounds with 12 on defense, and blocked 10 shots in three games. He tied the program record for blocks in a single game with six against University of North Texas at Dallas on Saturday.
Jeffries averaged 17.7 points per game in three games last week. He scored a high of 22 against Campbellsville on Sunday. He shot 56 percent from the field and 53 percent from 3-point territory.
Hill averaged 15.5 points per game in two contests. He shot 61.1 percent from the field. He also contributed four steals and two rebounds.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
