Rust's Berrien, Dillard's Burnett earn Week 8 HBCUAC Baseball Weekly Honors
NEW ORLEANS - March 24, 2025 - Rust College outfielder Malik Berrien wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Baseball Player of the Week and Dillard University's Kejuan Burnett claims Pitcher of the Week. The men were honored for their performances between March 17-23, the conference announced Monday.
Berrien hit .480 in six games last week with nine runs and eight runs batted in. In four of his six games, he recorded multiple hits, including three in the second game against Voorhees University on March 17 and in a non-conference game against Harris-Stowe State University on Wednesday. In the three-game series against Wilberforce University on Friday and Saturday, he scored seven runs helping the Bearcats to a sweep. Berrien leads the HBCUAC with 26 stolen bases.
Burnett threw a complete game to help Dillard sweep Tougaloo College on Sunday. He held the Bulldogs to an unearned run on five hits and struck out eight in nine innings. His performance helped the Bleu Devils move into fifth place in the HBCUAC standings. It's his second win of the season. He ranks 11th in the HBCUAC with a 5.65 earned run average.

About HBCU Athletic Conference
The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
