Wiley's Abram, Talladega's Duque take home Week 4 HBCUAC Baseball Weekly Honors
NEW ORLEANS - February 25, 2025 - Wiley University outfielder Smauri Abram wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Baseball Player of the Week and Talladega College pitcher Emilio Duque takes home Pitcher of the Week. The athletes were honored for their performances between February 17-23, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Abram hit .556, scored four runs and drove in six to help the Wildcats clinch the series against Stillman College. He recorded three hits in Game 2 from the seventh spot in the batting order, including a two-RBI triple and scored two runs in an 18-4 rout. He recorded two hits in the finale, including a three-RBI triple that broke the game open leading to a 15-5 win and series clincher for the Wildcats. He ranks in the top 15 of the conference with 11 RBI and 20 total bases.
Emilio Duque pitched his second consecutive scoreless outing. He held Voorhees to three hits, one walk and struck out seven in seven innings, helping the Tornadoes secure a 12-2 victory. Duque improves to 3-1 and is tied for second in victories and ranks fifth with a 3.09 batting average.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
