Stillman's Erwin, Voorhees pair garner Week 2 HBCUAC Softball Honors
NEW ORLEANS - Stillman College outfielder Alex Erwin wins Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) Player of the Week. Voorhees University's Eddrain Schenkel claims Freshman of the Week. Ta'Keyvia Sims takes Newcomer of the Week. The athletes were honored for their performance between February 2-8, the conference announced Tuesday.
Erwin went 5-for-10 in a four-game series against Blue Mountain Christian College. She recorded four hits on Friday and scored a run in the second game on Saturday. For the week she posted a .615 on-base percentage.
Schenkel recorded four hits in eight at-bats and scored two runs in three games. She had an RBI against NCAA Division I school Savannah State University on Wednesday. Schenkel recorded a .556 on-base percentage.
Sims tallied four hits, two runs and an RBI in four games last week. She ranks fourth in the conference with a .364 batting average and is the only player in the first two weeks of the season to steal multiple bases.

The HBCU Athletic Conference (HBCUAC) is the only HBCU conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
